Set Your TiVo - Siegelman on 60 Minutes..or NOT

The long awaited 60 Minutes piece on former Governor Siegelman's prosecution is scheduled to run Sunday night....at least that's what the CBS folks told us a week ago. But now it appears it will be a week from now. I give up. When CBS wants to promote the piece it can buy ads. (-:

  1. I'll be curious to see it. Never thought there was a conspiracy to block it, just that CBS had other (more profitable) stories to present.

I've known Dana Jill Simpson since 1983 at U of A, but haven't spoken with her since about 2001. I really need to call her...

  2. Not according to the 50 Minutes web site, Tim. It seems like CBS would be promo-ing it here in Alabama, at least.

  3. More reliable sources say it is scheduled for next week but could be bumped to one week later.

  4. Look for it on Ground Hog Day 2010. They've a got a bunch more celebrity profiles, or miracle cure stories to get out of the way before they worry about something as trivial as "justice".

  5. For those of us who have been waiting...and waiting...and waiting to see the 60 Minutes Siegelman story: if it's not shown next Sunday, please bombard CBS with emails expressing disappointment and ALSO write to Bill Moyers and Keith Olbermann requesting that each interview Scott Horton. (Beg if you must!) Mr. Horton has followed the case in detail on his blog No Comment at www.harpers.org. He also has an essay in the March issue of Harper's. To me, the sadder, sorrier aspect of this whole case is that, while we may believe that Siegelman is either guilty or innocent according to our own political perspective, we will never KNOW unless an impartial investigation takes place. Or is an i. i. merely a fanciful notion these days?
