Does the absence of virtually any African-Americans at tea party events mean the organization is racist? The NAACP
has approved a resolution condemning the Tea Party movement as racist. The only active Tea Party Candidate in the runoffs that I could tell was Rick Barber, who was defeated by Martha Roby...although she too spoke fondly of the Tea Party Movement in her "On The Record" interview. She'll face Democratic incumbent Bobby Bright in November.

The absence of virtually any African Americans does not make it racist, it is just a very good indication that the Tea Party is by its rhetoric and its actions very racist. I grew up among racist white southerners - I know that there are many ways to ignore blacks, affirm white superiority, and deny that "I have a racist bone in my body." Those subtle clues run rampant throughout the Tea Party movement.
