For those 55 and older, it takes about a year on average to find work, longer than for any other age group.
PBS and others reporting the above...an amazing squeezing of the recovery...young people graduating from college.....older people looking for advancement....but the baby boomers won't (or can't!) stop working and allow their jobs to open up.
Consider that when you hear politicians say they want to cut back on Social Security benefits.
A big factor is the availability and expense of health care benefits and the shrinking of retirement income.

Yes, you are correct! While some Seniors would actually enjoy working part-time to stay active, I suspect the majority are quite willing to give up a 9-5 grind if possible.
