Church & State

"The word Messiah is a title and it's a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ"

That's the comment of a Judge in Tennessee, ordering parents to change their child's name from Messiah to Martin.

  1. The ACLU says, "Not so fast, Judge!"

I remember about a decade ago, a nine year old girl went missing in the Birmingham area. Her given name was "Heaven."

Suppose the girl was a bit overweight. Would she be tagged with the nickname "Heavy?"

The story I quoted says that "Messiah" is one of the fastest-spreading names. I wonder how many of these babies will later go to court to legally change their given name.
