It doesn't seem like it is true, but 63% of the state is in an Abnormally Dry condition...and some areas had reached "Moderate Drought".
Intensity:
D0 - Abnormally Dry
D1 - Moderate Drought
D2 - Severe Drought
D3 - Extreme Drought
D4 - Exceptional Drought

We're noticing it in Birmingham. A couple of weeks ago it was so dry even the weeds in the alley were withering, then we got a good rain. Now we're dry again, and the weeds in the alley are withering again.
