Lincoln's Veterans

A long neglected segregation-era cemetery in Montgomery is more under control, thanks for volunteers who regularly cut the weeds back and who have documented 7,000+ graves at a facility built to handle 700.

There are still toppled stone markers and graves that have collapsed, but that's a big improvement from recent years when bones could be seen in colapsed gravesites.
I took these photos today, Memorial Day, paying special attention to the graves of Veterans. Lincoln cemetery was founded for black residents of the city in 1907. At the very least, there are veterans of WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam buried there.
And that gave me a thought. Perhaps there is some federal grant money available to maintain Lincoln Cemetery because of those Veterans?
Here are photos of some of the tombstones, presented as a tribute on Memorial Day 2015.

Some of the graves have collapsed, thousands have no markers.
One of the Rotary Clubs in Montgomery has taken on the burial ground as a project.
The volunteers, who do their best to maintain Lincoln Cemetery in Montgomery, placed flags on the graves of Veterans for Memorial Day.
