New Years Eve 2015

The end of 2015 in Montgomery has looked like some kind of dystopian future, in which climate change (or whatever) has caused endless  rainy days.
Floodwater covers the Downtown Montgomery Riverfront, causing an ironic cancellation of the scheduled New Years Eve cruise of the Harriet II Riverboat.
She is afloat, but short of rowboats, there is no way for passengers to board. The Downtown Countdown is still on, in fact you can watch it live in Montgomery on CBS 8 starting at 10:00 tonight.

Oh, and join me New Years Day Morning at 6:00 AM for an abbreviated Alabama News Network This Morning! on CBS 8 or ABC Montgomery.

It has been an unseasonably warm season too. Retailers have been disappointed by the slow sale of unneeded winter clothes. No reason for wearing even the Christmas-gift sweaters that were sold. Of course Winter is less than ten days old, so there's still time.
In a normal weather year, this is about the time when I would start talking on-air about how Spring is "just 12 weeks away".
And really? In Alabama? Only a little more than half that. In six or seven weeks the threat of any extended cold will be gone. Sure, a cold snap, but the Winter threat will be over.
That's one of the joys of living here.

The early redbud and other blooming trees will be pushing out their springlike colors, and all will be right with the world.
And this year, the one with no apparent Winter, will be remembered as one in which, despite the rain, all was pretty right in the normally cold months too.

Happy New Year!
