Harper Lee's comments about Monroeville...

Lee seemed to have mixed feelings about the town, writing about "a day of Old Monroeville reminiscence at shouting volume, tea-cakes and coffee. New Monroeville's collective memory goes back as far as the Building of Wal-Mart."

From a Washington Post story about letters from Lee being sold at auction.

Other tidbits; she hated the Trump Casino in Atlantic City and could never understand how perfect strangers would write asking her for money...worse yet, not even saying please!

The Trump Casino has been closed for quite some time. Saw what remains of it on an Anthony Bourdain program a few months ago.

As for "perfect strangers" asking for money: They're actually "imperfect strangers."
