The Little Engine That Could (Carry books).

The main branch of the NY Public Library includes millions of volumes...and starting today a little railroad train will carry the books from the underground storage area to the public.
That are is both under the building and under Bryant Park, behind it. I didn't know that till I read the story. I used to hang in that park when I was taking classes in the city.

The website The Gothamist has the story.
I hope they have included a model train sound, just for effect!
(Thanks to literature correspondent Jay for finding this one!)

  1. Thanks for the hat-tip, Tim.

Those little trains look as if they're carrying take-out boxes from a Chinese restaurant.
