MMMM #580 -- Alabama: Editorializing's Fertile Ground.

Can Donald Trump Save Roy Moore After All?

That headline does not do the NY Times column below it justice. The writer (of the column, not the headline) is Howell Raines, an Alabamian who used to be the Executive Editor of The N.Y. Times.  Your career arc can't go much higher than that.

     The Column is HERE.

A good read, if you can get past the pay wall.

BTW, I started subscribing to The NY Times earlier this year when they had a sale.

I get the Sunday paper only delivered, and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. It reminds me of living in Manhattan in 1975, walking up to the nearby newsstand and buying the paper late on Saturday night to explore the next morning.

These days, with my weekend work schedule, I end up reading some of it at work on Sunday afternoons.

Anyway, the longtime editorial writers (come back Jim Earnhardt!) (and cartoonists! We miss you Scott Stantis!) I have had the privilege to know over the past 40 years or so have always said Alabama is great place to practice their journalistic specialty.

They said Alabama always managed to provide great material, and they were right. And that was never more true than these days.

Breitbart Mocked After Failed Attempt to Discredit WaPo’s Roy Moore Bombshell: ‘It’s Called Journalism’

Here's the story.

  3. Tim,
Nice to know I haven't been entirely forgotten in journalism circles. Thanks for the kind mention.
