As you know if you have driven through Downtown Birmingham recently, the Transportation Department is redoing Malfunction Junction, the interchange of I-59 and I-65 that has bedeviled drivers for decades.
To accomplish the work, the city and state are closing a stretch of I-59 across from the Civic Center each night with this predictable result:
The work to replace bridges and ramps on the I-59/I65 Interchange has caused a different kind of traffic nightmare for drivers in Birmingham.
