Locally, won't we soon have WAKA, WNCF, and WCOV news all under the same umbrella ... in the same building ... with the same reporters, anchors, etc?

I suspect most capital cities don't get their local TV news from only two sources.

(I know this will not be a big change in that WCOV's news is already done by WAKA.)

Igrew up in Alabama in the 50s and 60s and managed to travel all oer the South. I can't remember a whites only Coke machine much less a two-sited machine for black and whites. I do remember serparat water fountains, rest rooms and lunch counters.

My father, born in 1917, said when he was a boy Coke were referred to as "dopes" for their cocaine content. There are some who will tell you this wasn't true. I have seen the remnents of the proccessing plant in Atlanta.

I love the way you keep us informed on all kinds of news, Tim. Somehow, I was ignorant of Herschel, As I read this I was at first thinking Hubble, then I googled Herschel Space Observatory when I saw it referenced in the article.

And then I get mind-boggled when I think about all those light-years away. The article said it takes seven billion years for the light from these star clusters to reach us, then it says the clusters will collide in "several billion years," which to me means they must have already begun to collide. It is still hard to conceive that when we look up at the stars, we are not seeing what is, we are seeing what was. The distant past is so luminously present.

I talked with a relative of one Wallace Administration insider who says that was why G. Bush was in Montgomery for the National Guard service...and Martha Mitchell reportedly said Chuck Colson told her husband John...and so on.
