Lessons from Minnesota

Will someone please tell the U.S. Congress about this report from Minnesota on the hot-button issue of same-sex marriage?
The Minnesota House approved the legislation allowing gay marriage on Friday and the Senate is expected to do the same on Monday, The Governor says he'll sign it. But note this part of the story from TIME:

The bill passed in the House after more than three hours of debate that was emotional at times but remained respectful throughout.

Minnesota Capitol Building

Is there something in the water up there? Can we add it to the drinking supply in the U.S. Capital?

  1. Lwt's worry first about Alabama's capitol.

The Minnesota capitol building doesn't really look like that. That photo was taken using a fish-eye lens.

By the way, thanks for getting rid of those awful, blurred house numbers in the log-on sequence!

  2. In 1979-80 I worked for the Minnesota state government. Our offices were nearby, but a trip to the Capitol building entailed walking on sidewalks on a roadway crossing I-35, and up those steps in the picture.

Not a fun trip in the winter, especially as my boss was a blind man and I had to lead him.
