MMMM # 408-- Selling Out

This is the cover of a recent TIME magazine.
If you look very carefully at the top, you can see the operative word: advertisement. Shhhhh.

This is the back cover of the TIME of September 23, 2013.
It's an advertisement with which TIME has managed to sully both its name and its most recognizable trademarks, the annual "Person of The Year" award.
These are tough times for publications. Newsweek is gone, as is U.S. News and Wold Report and others too, unable to survive the stormy digital winds of change.
When you start selling your signature image, you may as well be gone too. I hope there were some folks inside who ranted about it. RIP, TIME.

[ALSO: a web reporter is facing jail time for refusing to tell an Illinois judge where he obtained police reports about a double murder.

[The Monday Morning Media Memo is a regular feature of TimLennox.com.]

  1. My subscription to TIME doesn't expire until Dec. 2016 but I doubt it will make it until then. I, too, was shocked. I've saved the TIMES'S 'Person of the Year' issue for almost 25 years but this issue degraded its' purpose. Yes TIME must need the money that badly! SHAME,TIME!
