Sunday Focus: Coal Ash, It's BAAAACK


    
The ALAPOWCO Greene County Plant, changing from coal soon.
Members of Congress are trying to weaken the already weak EPA regulations over coal ash, the left over after coal is burned to produce electricity.

      The claim about the weakening action comes from the Southern Environmental Law Center in a news release.
They say the changes will result in

"...stripping the few critical safety requirements and protections included in the rule, and result in continuing coal ash contamination with no repercussions or responsibility for cleanup."

 The TVA spent billions cleaning up a coal ash spill in Tennessee, including the cost of transporting the coal ash to a commercial landfill in Alabama.
