I spoke with some longtime Democratic activists in Montgomery this Tuesday after the election and the takeaway was this comment:
"The bad people won"
Then this afternoon I came across this comment:
"...let me just tell you, Mr. Trump has a long memory and we're keeping a list."
There is always mourning after a political loss, but capping off a year of police shootings and increasing distrust between police and, especially, African-Americans, and considering the hatred expressed during the long, long campaigns, the depression and sorrow is perhaps understandable.
Everyone expected Mr. Trump to win Alabama. No one seemed to expect him to win the election.
There may be an entire class of people looking for other work this week. The pollsters who missed it all.
