WHNT reports  former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman will be released to a halfway house this week.

Wednesday was the first day he would be eligible for an early release. His prison term was set to end in August.

The former Governor's family and supporters had been pressing Outgoing President Obama to pardon him, but the White House rejected their request.
