Basra Update

Today's Times has an update on the fiasco at Basra that I mentioned in an earlier post, with Iraqi troops and police abandoning their posts during the fighting. The size of the government's action is an indication of how big of a problem it was...meanwhile back home, The Times' Frank Rich opines that most of us don't much care about Iraq or the war: Most Americans don’t want to hear, see or feel anything about Iraq, whether they support the war or oppose it. They want to look away, period, and have been doing so for some time. His comments come during his review of yet another documentary about the war. If he's right, Mr. Rich should also consider finding other topics for this columns. If folks won't watch a move about it, why would they read yet another columnist telling us why we are so wrong?
