Editor vs Readers

When I read the anonymous comments left by readers in newspapers on or off line, I can't help but wonder if the papers have decided to become more like talk-radio and less like a true journalistic endeavour. Now a survey indicates that put me squarely on the side of editors. A majority say reader comments, online or off line, should include the real name of the person making the comment. Your thoughts???

  1. I think that letters printed in the paper should always have the real name of the person writing them.

I also think editorials in the paper should have the name of the writer.

Online though I support anonimity...although I fully admit to wishing on numerous occasions that I new the name of the bone-head who left a mean, nasty comment.
