The Birmingham News has
a story today dragging the Jefferson County Commission through the mud because some of the members and their staff have been doing some travlin'. .. going to work-related conventions and stuff...
The News story singles out Commissioner Jim Carnes for scorn because his chief of staff is using just over a thousand taxpayer dollars to go to a Economic Development Association conference at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach.
After all, Guantanamo is about to be available, no? Once we've relocated the terrorism suspects, why let those rooms go to waste? Now that restrictions on travel to Cuba are being loosened, the next economic development meeting can be in beautiful Guantanamo bay!
And come to think of it, those Birmingham news folks
may already feel like they're in a prison.....
