Coal Ash & Birth Defects

Hey, I'm not saying the story has merit, only that it's worth reading for Alabamians, since we're accepting millions of tons of coal ash at that landfill in Perry County...now there may, may be a coal ash-birth defect link. Read the story here.

The Arrowhead Landfill owners (who live in Atlanta) insist their place is safe for the coal ash being sent by rail from Tennessee (picture above), that the liners in their landfill just outside Uniontown prevents any contamination of the water.

And the Perry County elected officials point to the millions of dollars in fees flowing into that poor county, helping to offset cuts in state education funding. Of course if the coal ash really does cause birth-defects, and if it does so in Perry County, no added funding in the education budget will make up for the future costs.
