Just last weekend I saw a young man wearing a coonskin cap and I was quickly reminded of the one I (and a billion other little boys) had as a child. And now, the death of the actor who prompted me to want one. Fess Parker has died, according to a story in The NY Times and CNN.

ReplyDeleteI heard the news on NPR as I was returning from the HMCPL - Huntsville Madison County Public Library.
ReplyDeleteParker was married to only one woman, and for his lifetime; made significant strides in entertainment, business and agriculture, and did so honestly.
The eulogic news of his passing was as wholesome and uplifting as was his life.
Would that we focused more on the good and just, rather than on that which now apparently do.
Hey, now, little boys weren't the only ones with coonskin caps. I was as proud of mine as I was of any toy I owned. Who would ever miss Davy Crockett on TV? No one in my family, that's for sure. And gosh, at all of 6 I remember thinking that not only was he brave, but he was dreamy as well....
