I'm trying to clear some clutter, and came across some old photo albums. In one, I found the photo below. I took it in August, 1970 in Vietnam...but this may be the first time I've actually looked at it closely. I wonder why so many of the boys are hiding their faces?
Seems that only two of the boys actually are hiding their faces. Some seem to know they are being photographed and some others, not.
ReplyDeleteThese "boys" likely work on a US military base during the day, and hump rockets for the Viet Cong at night. Between jobs they pick GI's pockets right after converting US dollars to Military Payment Certificates (MPC). They hung outside the USO laying in wait for trusting GI's.
