Alabama Wiki Law Trumps Sharia Law

Not that Alabama has any other pressing problems, but State Senator Gerald Allen of Tuscaloosa is the sponsor (the only sponsor) of the bill to make sure Sharia law isn't used in Alabama courtrooms.
Mother Jones Magazine reports that some of the language of the bill Allen sponsored originates almost word for word from Wikipedia.
It's not clear from the article if it was Allen or the Legislative Reference Service that used Wikipedia as a source.
While Wikipedia is a convenient quick place to look for information, the "everyone is an editor" approach makes any given fact questionable at any given time. And that's not even getting into the questionable nature of the legislation itself, which was reported in The Anniston Star.
The Mother Jones article says the national "movement" to block any consideration of Sharia law comes from a white supremacist who an earlier Jones article quotes as saying:
"...there's a reason the founding fathers did not give women or black slaves the right to vote."
Allen's State Senate District 21 includes a lot of Tuscaloosa County, Allen graduated from UA with a degree in Education.

  2. Do they come any dumber and more vicious than Gerald Allen? I've never seen one bill sponsored by him that wasn't just plain retarded and mean spirited (yeah yeah I know...not supposed to use that R word) but that's what he is. From the legislators I've spoken with Allen is something of an inside joke at the state house that no one takes seriously. I'll never forget the ass whooping he toted at the hands of Rep. Alvin Holmes when discussing gay marriage on FTR. Dang I miss that show. You on Channel 8 just isn't the same Tim.
