In an online story, Bloomberg's Business Week places the blame for Jefferson County's bankruptcy squarely at the feet of Governor Robert Bentley, who is described as not being prepared to be governor. "The Accidental Dr. Governor", is a phrase they use.
Iam no fan of Gov. Bentley, but give the guy some credit here He knew that, at least dermatologically, the Jefferson County was so divided that nothing was going paas in a special session.
ReplyDeleteMany people, or should I say, a sewer manhole full of people, have made a lot of money of this deal. Some have gone to jail for doing so. The question that needs to be answered is who in Jefferson County is still filling their pockets that no newspaper is willing to write about.
I concur with Bloomberg's assessment.
ReplyDeleteIn medical terminology, that'd be:
Dx: Incompetence
Rx: New Governor
As an aside, after reading Gov. Bentley's official state biography, I asked a poignant, if not rhetorical question, in one of my entries, to wit:
"Does it seem even slightly incongruous that a man who takes justifiable pride in managing to grow a business “into one of the largest dermatology practices in the Southeastern United States“ would want to come to government to make it small?"
