TL.COM Public Safety Editor Jay got a kick out of this story about a $33-Million Dollar mistake by German police.
They bought new police cars but they're too small for the officers with their equipment on. They insist they tested them first for how fit they were for police use, but nonetheless...
I wonder how much of a factor Alabama's obesity has been a factor in purchases like that...for the suspects, if not the officers themselves. Just a few days ago the Anniston Star's Cameron Steele wrote a story about fat cops. It didn't discuss the vehicle aspect but was interesting.
Last year, an over-sized ambulance was purchased to handle overweight patients in West Alabama, and it was being used several times a week!
About the same time, The New York Times reported on police with sleep apnea, which is common among obese people.
Notice I never once used the word doughnut.
