Saving Heritage

Some of the Confederate Veterans who died in the Home are buried in the park.
The Clanton Advertiser reports two legislators have managed to save annual funding for the Confederate Memorial Park, after other lawmakers tried to take the $400,00 or so and distribute it to other parks.
Park Manager Bill Rambo.
Rep. Kurt Wallace (R-Maplesville) told the paper:

"Our heritage and our way of life must be defended!"

The Park, just off I-65 (but NOT the location of that huge Confederate flag! It is on private property.) was once the location of a home for Confederate Veterans and their widows. Now the money goes to park upkeep instead.

[Military Editor Jay located this story, and for that we salute him! (though I suspect he may be a Yankee).]

  2. Two further comments--

    1. Don't mess with a park manager if his name is Rambo.

    2. The park is actually quite a ways off I-65. I visited it once.

  3. Yes, it is a way off 65, but not more than a few miles or so as I recall.
