Alabama Theater Sign Dismantled!

     But don't worry...it's a sign for another Alabama Theater, one in Houston, not the Alabama Theater in Birmingham. 
     The Texas sign has been there since the 1930's and is being taken apart for painting. The building is no longer a movie theater, but the sign remains, a local landmark of sorts.

     The Birmingham theater still shows special event movies and is used for concerts and events. I may have been one of the last people to see a regularly scheduled movies there. I has just moved to Birmingham in 1976 and All The President's Men was showing as a first run flick.

    Can we say, "Thank God or Texas--it makes Alabama (the theatre) look great"?
