Omen?

     If you believe in omens, this can't be a good one. The National Christmas Tree on the White House grounds has died and will have to be replaced...and it was a replacement for another that died last Fall.
     The weird weather we've all been suffering hasn't skipped D.C., and transplanting a mature tree is tough enough with perfect weather. I remember when huge mature trees were transplanted to the front of the Barber (milk) mansion on top of Red Mountain in Birmingham fifteen or so years ago....I presume they lived.
