The North Carolina company that was supposed to turn the middle of the empty Montgomery Mall into a kind of medical mall has dropped out. The North Carolina based Keith Company was announced with great fanfare last year.
That leaves only a church's plan* to turn the old Parisian anchor store into a sanctuary, day care center, and church TV studio. The city is already turning the old Steve and Barry's at the other end of the mall into a Police and Fire station.
Mayor Todd Strange says another developer is already looking at the center portion between the two former anchor stores.
*I spoke with the pastor this week, and he says the plan is taking longer than he expected, but it is moving forward.
Yeah, we've heard these grand plans before.
ReplyDeleteI just passed the mall a few minutes ago. Absolutely no action there.
