A South Georgia legislator is mounting a war against the use of drones by U.S. Law enforcement agencies, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday.
You may have read about the Gadsden Police Department in Alabama owning two drone aircraft...technology obtained before the current chief was appointed, and, we're told, never unpacked from their crates, much less used.
But the same government documents that revealed the Gadsden drones also disclosed that the Montgomery (Alabama) Sheriff's Department applied for a permit to get some drones of their own. The permit they were granted expired, we presume before any were bought. But you have to wonder what they wanted them for.
And it's not just law enforcement...TV stations---and maybe even rich bloggers---are ready, willing, and able to get an eye in the sky that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars an hour, like helicopters.
We have seen the future, And it is above us.
