The Poarch Creek Are Upheld

The U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs has upheld the right of The Poarch Creek Indians to operate casinos on their tribal lands, including those in Montgomery.
State Senator Bryan Taylor and others had argued a U.S. Supreme Court Ruling meant the tribe did not have the right to the lands, but the tribe says a letter from the Department of The Interior has brushed aside that argument.
The Casinos have been making money at a faster rate than any other ever since Alabama officials cracked down on non-Indian gaming facilities, leaving the tribes in Alabama---and Mississippi--- with a virtual monopoly.

  1. Not so fast. Is Obamacare constitutional just because the Health and Human Services Department says so?

  2. True, but this is the agency that oversees the rules governing tribal lands. Who knows more about the rules? If an Alabama politician thinks they are wrong, go spend some of all of that extra cash in the state coffers and file a suit.
