Fascinating to read how this sound was recovered, and to hear those sounds from the past. It also reminded me of a Captain Kangaroo program I saw as a kid where they had a working gramophone that recorded onto a wax cylinder. We got to see the Captain and Mr Green Jeans speaking into the big speaker and then playing back the old-fashioned recording.
Charles, you may have to explain to many folks just who Captain Kangaroo is! I had the good fortune of interviewing him in the late 80's or early 90's and have a photo of us somewhere around here.
Jay - I don't know of another. Bob Keeshan was the Captain for all those years on CBS, then he reprised the role on some PBS stations in later years. I noticed Tim has just posted a Captain Kangaroo sampler!

I think there was more than one Capt. Kangaroo. Bob Keenan passed away, then there was another. Am I right on this?
