When I arrived at work one morning, I discovered this Praying Mantis on the outside wall of the station, and I remembered one of those facts learned in childhood that still rattles around my brain for some reason. It is against the law to kill them.
Turns out that's not true...it was an urban legend in the 1950's....before that term even existed.
But there is a good reason to let them be. These insects are beneficial, not necessarily on the side of TV studio buildings, but in the garden, as they eat harmful insects.
One thing about the Mantis I did not learn about during childhood is their rather bizarre mating behavior. The females eat the males...either after or even during sex. Yet the males keep trying to reproduce. You would think at some point in their evolution they would learn?
