Happy 5th to me.

Today is the 5th anniversary of this website!
There's been a lot of water over the dam, or under the bridge, since then!
  • The first "post" if you call it that, was a series of pictures I shot one very cold Sunday morning in Downtown Birmingham.
  • I don't call this a "blog" anymore, Google's name for the program (Blogger) notwithstanding. Nothing against blogs, but I've come to see it as broader than that. I call it a website.
  • Visitors have come by from 158 Countries, all 50 U.S. States and The District of Columbia since March of 2011 when I accidentally dropped the program that keeps the stats. The figures from before that show visitors from 113 countries.
  • On February 14, 2008 I broke the 100 visitors in a day mark and have steadily increased since then.
  • Alabama accounts for the largest number of visitors, naturally, since many of my posts focus on my home state.
  • There are at least 158 postings that I wrote but thought better of actually publishing. See? Sometimes I do have patience and restraint. (-:
  • The Monday Morning Media Memo remains a favorite feature.
  • The vast majority of visitors never say a word. That's disappointing, because I would like to have more dialogue with them, but c'est la vie!
  • I don't know how long the average site like this lasts, but I suspect not quite this long. It is not easy to keep material flowing when it is an avocation, and an unpaid one at that!
  • Thanks to the folks who come here, frequently or just once. It's nice to have you visit!
