BankRate Monitor is out with a ranking of the states when it comes to retirement...from the best (Tennessee) to the worst (Oregon).
Alabama ranks 8th.
There are pluses and minuses to encouraging inbound retirees.
On the down side, they use more medical resources, are less likely to vote in favor of tax increases for education, and like teenagers, have driving skill challenges, so to speak.
On the positive side, er, er, they, er, they keep the early bird special alive?

And us oldsters bring in those monthly pension and social security checks. Plus all those medical needs lead into increased employment in the health care field.
