MMMM # 387 -- Covering Gettysburg, 150 years ago today

The war dead, 15o years ago today.
How would modern media cover an event that killed 50,000 Americans?

Today is the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg and the media will be offering hundreds of hours of coverage of the anniversary of the most deadly battle on U.S. soil.

CBS interviewed a representative of the hot media of the day---The Saturday Evening Post!

Only confirmed picture of Lincoln at Gettsyburg
Meanwhile, CNN offered a rather silly "how would CNN have covered the battle".

And here is a compilation of newspaper coverage of the address that President Lincoln made to dedicate a cemetery on the battlefield four and a half months later, including this:

From the
London Times
“The ceremony was rendered ludicrous by some of the sallies of
that poor President Lincoln. Anything more dull and
commonplace it would not be easy to produce.”

So some members of Congress have warned pro-sports teams not to accept sponsorships from the Affordable Care Act, i.e. Obamacare.

"It is difficult to understand why an organization like yours would risk damaging its inclusive and apolitical brand by lending its name to its promotion," Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and John Cornyn (R-Tex.) wrote in the letter.
Will they also warn the media not to accept advertising for it?
Why not just warn citizens not to take part?
     Who are these people?
