By a publishing coincidence, National Geographic featured an article on Saturday of an age old coming of age ceremony in Kenya. It means, said one man "now you are real, real warrior. You can now defend Samburu culture."
Also on Saturday, a modern shopping mall in the Kenyan capitol of Nairobi was attacked by terrorists.
That story is still unfolding this Sunday Morning, but at least 59 people are dead and many more injured. Hostages are still being held. Watch CBS Sunday Morning today at 8:00am on CBS 8 in Montgomery for the latest on the story.
The attack reminded me of a question I asked a U.S. terrorism expert in years following 9-11. Not that I wanted it to happen, but what stopped terrorists from conducting simultaneous attacks on U.S. malls in middle sized cities? The terror and resulting economic impact would be huge. I hope it hasn't happened because of the money we taxpayers have invested in security post 9-11 is working. And, of course, I hope that shield continues to work.
