The full name is the Meatpacking District, but when I lived about three block away from it we shortened it. It's near the river on the lower West Side.

I've often stayed at Leo House on West 23rd Street. A very unique, European style hotel with reasonable (for NYC, anyway) prices. It is run by an order of Roman Catholic nuns who set it up a century ago to welcome immigrants from Germany.
I thought I knew Manhattan, but where's the Meat District?

They offer the best buffet breakfasts in town!
