A friend of mine who grew up under financially difficult circumstances was apoplectic over comments by Rep. Paul Ryan at C-PAC.
He quoted a woman on his staff who told him a story about a boy who....well, here's how he explained it:
My friend was beside himself.
Ryan was saying my friend's family didn't care for him because they depended on a federal program to provide lunch at school. They made what money they could cleaning wealthy people's houses, and scraping together enough to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table for dinner.
The teenage Ryan, by the way, accepted Social Security payments from the Federal Government after his father died...not that he needed them to live. He saved that money and used it for college tuition.
Too bad his surviving parent didn't car enough about him to pay the tuition herself.
Does he had a "full brain" but an empty soul?

She once met a young boy from a poor family. And every day at school, he would get a free lunch from a government program. But he told Eloise he didn’t want a free lunch. He wanted his own lunch — one in a brown-paper bag just like the other kids’. He wanted one, he said, because he knew a kid with a brown-paper bag had someone who cared for him.
Ryan went on to blast government programs that give kids “a full stomach — and an empty soul.”

Absolutely, except that I very much doubt that Paul Ryan has a full brain.
