A Time Machine

Google recently announced a new feature for it's street-view map feature...you can go back in time to as far back as 2007 and see what has changed in the street since then. (I'm either looking for it in the wrong place, or it hasn't arrived for my part of the globe yet.)

But now National Geographic has the story of old Cold War satellite photos that show ancient settlements in the Middle-East, settlements that are no longer visible because they have been covered up by development. For example, this 1961 photo of Tell Rifaat in northwest Syria.

I'll bet the Pentagon has the same photos for wherever you live!
