That was the title of a 1966 comedy about a Russian sub that
runs aground on the U.S. Coastline in Massachusetts. The captain sends some crew ashore to find a boat to pull the sub off the rocks and the locals think they are being invaded.
But apparently there really IS a Soviet ship near the Gulf...a spy ship with an ocean-going tug...perhaps to pull it away from shore should it get grounded too?
There is also a report--one denied by The Pentagon--that a Russian sub actually was in the Gulf of Mexico for a month without being detected!
Maybe Putin's expansion includes a play for Alabama? (-:
