Saturday Status: The Chief

  
  

     As Alabama News Network reported on Friday, Montgomery Police Chief Kevin Murphy has said in public what had been speculated in private for weeks: he will retire from the force.
   
     Murphy and Mayor Todd Strange will hold a news conference Monday morning at 11:00am to make the announcement, and you can watch it live on CBS 8 or  ABC Montgomery.
     That won't quiet the talk-radio chatter about plots and subterfuge, but it may help clear the air about the episode that started with the arrest and apparent suicide of the chief's twin brother.
     Our sympathy to the Chief and his family in dealing with their grief.
