Bob Woodward, who knows quite a bit about political reporting, spoke at The University of Texas about a similar theme: the state of the news media, and a student publication reported his comments.
And The Atlantic has a story about a news photo taken during the first Iraq War (counting the ones the U.S. was involved in)...a photo nobody would then publish!

Tim, I like the way you bring news items like these for our consideration. It makes for interesting and informative reading. I thought the Woodward story was very well written, especially for a student publication.
