Sunday Focus: Vigilantes?

They post themselves on rooftops overlooking the violent streets in Ferguson, Missouri, calling themselves "Oath Keepers". Some are armed with high-powered rifles.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch story  quotes the founder as saying they are not anti-government, but also saying “Historically, the government almost always fails to protect people."
Police told them to leave on Saturday, and they did.

  • AP reported over the weekend vigilantes have become the only law there is in some parts of Peru.

  • Last Spring, The Washington Post published an opinion piece about vigilantes...like George Zimmerman in Florida and the much earlier Bernhard Goetz on a New York City subway. The headline?

America loves a vigilante. Until we meet one.
