What makes children remember any particular toy all their lives?
I suspect it is a product of the time, and that it depends on the circumstances under which you received and played with it, more than the toy itself.
One of the toys I remember from childhood was the "Astro Phone" that was supposed to allow you to speak over a beam of light.... My best friend Steve and I lived one block apart...and from one of my 2nd floor windows you could see one of his....frankly I'm not sure we weren't hearing ourselves through the air just from shouting into the things...but it was fun!
The game Candyland has been around long enough that I played it as a kid---quite a few years ago---....and I saw one at work this week!
It was at Alabama News Network, which has been working with The Salvation Army on a toy drive this year.
It's called The Magical Christmas Toy Drive and you can look into the "toy Vault" where the toys are being stored live on camera at this link.
You'll also find a list of the drop off locations for the drive. The deadline is 12-15-14
And a reminder: kids DO get hurt on toys. A new study says a kid went to the ER every three minutes for a toy-related injury. So choose wisely!
