Sunday Focus: Show Me The Money (And I'll Keep It!)

The Washington Post's six-part exhaustive review last Fall of police seizures of cash from citizens who are not charged with any crime is an eye opener.
In Alabama, The Post found City of Montgomery police had made almost $4-Million in seizures since 2011...Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies took almost $7-Million.
Elmore County, just North of Montgomery, was in the top ten too.
In all, about $25-Million seized in Alabama.
The police are using laws passed in the aftermath of 9/11. They do not have to prove the money is from illegal enterprises, just intimidate and threaten the person with the money to the point that they agree to give it up.
The police agencies share the seized money---a cash cow for their budgets.
Carrying large amounts of cash has become a defacto crime in America.
You can see the totals in your state in an interactive map in the Post's report.
