The Montgomery based Civil Rights group says fake news stories are spreading online about groups they supposedly have added to to their "Hate Watch" list, including FOX News.
The Fox News piece was published earlier this week at a satirical “news” site called the Free Wood Post, where the motto is: “News That’s Almost Reliable.” The post contained no links to any such SPLC report because, of course, none existed.
There have been any number of instances in which "stories" have been put online by The Onion, a clearly satirical group, and then treated as legitimate news by outraged individuals. ABC TV just aired a feature listing some of those incidents.
