Does A Bear Death Penalty Stop Their killing?

1950's Poster
The hiker who was killed over the weekend in Yellowstone National Park was partly eaten.

But the part of the story that I have a comment about is this:

Officials say that any bears involved in the attack will be euthanized if caught.

Uh, why? Do we think it will somehow teach the rest of the bears a lesson? I'm not sure that even works with humans, if you track the death penalty and murder rates, much less bears.
Will we feel better about the potential for future attacks? That's like tearing down a tree into which a driver drove his vehicle, causing his death.

The slower, the better.
One of the Network TV reports I saw described Yellowstone as being infested with bears....actually Yellowstone is infested with humans.

The Park is the bear's natural environment, We're the interlopers. And sometimes  dinner too.
