The city's council voted 6-1 in favor of removing them. Perhaps the most onerous one honors a post Civil War battle in which a white supremacist group briefly took over the city that was being run by a reconstruction government.

The vote comes as Alabama State Representative Alvin Holmes says he wants Governor Bentley to remove Confederate flags from the state seal.
It is seen on the shoulder of State Troopers and other police. The design includes all of the flags that have flown over Alabama, including the Confederate flag.
That little thing in the middle isn't a flag. It's a miniature shield or emblem or something.
ReplyDeleteDon't blame me...I didn't design it. It is clearly a representation of the U.S. flag, in banner form. It is the confederate flag (also a design, not truly a flag) on the bottom right, that is of note.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but the American "flag" there is a lot smaller than the four other flag symbols.
ReplyDeleteAnd the eagles have a sort of hangdog, depressed look on their faces.
